Age at Death?[edit]

Just finished watching the documentaries on The Italian Job and his widower said he died "12 weeks after being diagnosed with cancer not quite 41". Any idea why there appears to be discrepancies about his age? --82.42.150.196 (talk) 18:18, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looking in the book 'The Making of the Italian Job' it says 44 several times and gives birth and death dates that correspond to this. There is a quote, presumably from Hazel his wife, that starts 'I suppose dying at 44 was probably the best thing that could have happened to him...' JMiall 07:15, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, his birthdate and death date are facts and he was definitely 44 when he died, so whoever did that quote (surely not "his widower") must have been mistaken.Thomas Blomberg (talk) 17:48, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it was his widow, Hazel, who said (twice) in the "Making of" documentary film that he died 12 weeks after an insurance exam disclosed he had previously undiagnosed cancer, and that he was "not quite 41." As he died in December of 1980, something is wrong with the 1936 birth date given here. There must be a source someplace for his actual birth date. Gillartsny (talk) 13:35, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
A birth date of 1940 also wouldn't fit with the date for his national service as he would have been under 17 in 1954. JMiall 17:53, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
A primary source just for information but in the General Register Officer index of Birth registrations there is a Peter K Collinson registered in Q2 1936 in the Grimsby registration district (that covered Cleethorpes in 1936). Note IMDB gives his name as "Peter Kenneth Collinson". MilborneOne (talk) 18:09, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
