Miss Ecuador, in 1971, got back the rights to select the Ecuadorian delegate to Miss Universe, selecting the representative through a casting from 1971 to 1972. In 1973 and 1974, Miss Ecuador did not send a contestant to Miss Universe. Currently, Miss Ecuador is still the franchise holder, and now the winner is who represent the country at Miss Universe since 1975.
