Importance[edit]
Roatta is of high importance to thousands of Slovene victims - and their offspring via the transgenerational trauma - of Italian ethnic cleansing and war crimes committed on his command in "Circular 3" "most energetically and without any false compassion" Giuseppe Piemontese (1946): Twenty-nine months of Italian occupation of the Province of Ljubljana. After the war[edit]
The current formulation "lived in Rome until his death on 7 January 1968" is somewhat misleading as Roatta escaped to Spain with help from Vatican and the British in 1945 and returned back to Italy and Rome only in 1966 dying there soon after. -89.66.180.105 (talk) 08:30, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
treatment of Jews[edit]
Despite his role in mass murders and ethnic cleansing, it may be notable that Roatta refused to deliver Jews to German authorities for processing to extermination camps in the Italian-occupied territory in Yugoslavia. If you google "general roatta" along with the phrase "incompatible with the honor of the Italian Army" there are 3 or 4 books that mention this, although they may all be repeating info from the earliest mention. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:32DA:88F0:5D02:8642:9B07:9C74 (talk) 01:56, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
