What would be the view of Liu Xiao Bo on the recent student protests in London?

I just wondered what would be Liu or his associates' views on the recent student protests in London, given that in part the Nobel Prize was awarded to Liu for his part in the Chinese student demonstration? Would they want the British government to give in to the students' demand or would they want the British government to stick to its gun? 86.176.49.125 (talk) 20:59, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

I would think he should be peaceful enough to realized how dangerous and inhumane a complete democracy would be without a strong central government to look over things. Democracy is great, up to an extent. Once we reach the levels exhibited in the French Revolution period, then it is simply a DEMOCRACY OF THE IDIOTS

A country must be developed and atleast a majority of the population needs to be educated in order for a democracy to work, otherwise the people can't choose properly, then I would rather go with a moderate and sensible dictatorship (since any government must be some what sensible now a days unless it wants to be like N Korea or Cuba, HITLERS AND STALINS ARE NO LONGER POSSIBLE PEOPLES! THOUGH WE MUST GUARD AGAINST THE REPEAT OF HISTORY, I THINK WE CAN ALL AGREE THAT THERE ARE TOO MANY NUKES AND TOO MANY SUPER POWERS TO ALLOW ANY ONE SINGLE SUPER POWER TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD. But what/who counts as "educated"? A peasant who cannot read or write, but knows how to get the best out of a piece of land, does he count as educated? Or should it be down to an "educated" person from a university who says, "Oh I know how to increase the output of the land by tenfold; sow 10 times the amount of seeds". You may laugh, but former UK finance minister and prime minister Gordon Brown may count himself as very educated (he has a PhD in history), said he has banished the old boom and bust in the economy. Has he? No, the bust got even bigger. So what makes an educated person a better judge when it comes to deciding how other people should make a living? Or why should an educated person's opinion/vote count more than a peasant's opinion/vote? Would it not be more sensible to have a rule that says persons who run for public office must have the necessary qualifications to be able to carry out their duties? User 81.159.181.156 think of what you have said. IT DOES NOT APPLY TO CHINA! OVER HALF OF THE CHINESE POPULATION IS MADE UP OF FARMERS! AND THEY ARE NOT EVEN AT THE SAME LEVEL AS THE BRITISH FARMER!

If some random crazy guy comes into the political scene and promise the farmers a bunch of seeds and subsidies, he would win easily! Do you want a China ruled by farmers? DO YOU WANT THE BIGGEST MANUFACTURER, STRONGEST ECONOMIC POWER, AND ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL NUCLEAR NATIONS TO BE RULED BY UNEDUCATED FARMERS?!?!???

It must be applied and maintained under suitable conditions. Again I refer back to the French Revolution, it is the will of the people, but when the will of the people is to kill everyone and anyone everywhere, it MUST be stopped or the country will collapse into anarchism and some sort of radical leader will trick the people and take over. Why should anyone agree that "democracy" is the best thing after the discovery of fire? I find the best system in the world are constitutional monarchies: Take the UK, Thailand, and even Japan after WW2. The position of the Chinese system is effectively that of a corporate monarchy, with the head of the CCP labelled as the "Red Emperor" in western journalism. Under such a system the monarch must be fair and seen to be fair and act as the people's conscience. I said people in elected office must have the right qualifications for the job. How can someone who only has qualifications in history be a finance minister? Given in most parts of the world people have to choose to study either humanities or scientific subjects prior to university, with people who take up the humanities being hopeless in the sciences. Or indeed why should people who have virtually no qualifications, such as the UK's former deputy PM John Prescott (now Lord Prescott) or the former Mayor of London Ken Livingstone have public offices? This is the butt end joke of western democracy. You can have a salesman who does not know anything else running the country. I agree you should not have peasants running a country, neither should you have hairdressers running the country, nor should you have lawyers running a country, nor Stephen Hawkings or Albert Einsteins. Why don't the people on the nobel committee for this prize answer the original question; do they and does Mr Liu support the London student demonstrations (now also the Italian and Greek student demonstrations)? Since Mr Liu was given the prize partially for the Chinese student demonstrations, then are there students in the UK, Italy or Greece being lined up for the next prize? Come on you people stop hiding and come out and answer the question, or are you just a bunch of hypocrits? Excuse me, above user, but haven't you noticed? The nobel prize is heavily influenced by the American pressure groups. Just like how certain pressure groups make the American government do things in their interest, they also manipulate the nobel committee's decisions. Everything is political.

Yes, I have noticed. These Scandanivians award the prize to some undesirable in someone else's country, then claims Liu hasn't done anything wrong, then want to arrest Julian Assange in Sweden on some trumped up charge to hide the fact they did not like him telling (oops, leaking) the truth about the hypocrisy of western governments. Just because Liu has not done anything wrong in Sweden or Norway does not mean he hasn't done anything wrong else where. In the UK Mark Duggan case, the courts have found that it was legal for the police to kill that man. China's views on Liu Xiaobo

Liu Zengwen, the ambassador of China to Romania, declared that Liu Xiaobo once stated that "China should be colonized for 300 years" and "China should be separated into 18 regions", and therefore, in his view, giving Nobel Prize for peace to such a "clown" simply disqualifies the Nobel Prize committee. - link

Since the West seems to be so concerned about democracy and freedom of speech, there is no reason to remove this statement from the article. The government of China is involved in this issue (Nobel prize for Liu Xiaobo), therefore it's declarations (and not only actions) deserve to be mentioned in the article. Refusing to give a voice to a party involved in the conflict (like the vast majority of the Western media did) is not an action of supporting freedom of speech, but an act of censorship. Therefore I think China's government voice deserves to be mentioned in the article. Because the part with 18 regions was removed from the article. —  Ark25  (talk) 20:39, 25 August 2016 (UTC)

Criticism

Mr Liu, even a 6-year old American kid wants to kill all the Chinese people, because he did not want his country to pay its debts. Mr Liu, can the Chinese (or any other people) really trust America whose culture is such that even a 6-year old is brainwashed to believe that it is right to kill off all the Chinese?
