@James500: I said at AfD on 1700, I will probably support your efforts at re-organization. In this edit you said, "all these pages were merged into the century articles after an AfD." Which WP:AfD are you referring to? This one has not closed yet. Are there others? --David Tornheim (talk) 14:02, 11 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The AfDs for the timelines for 1073, 1142, 1270, 1316, 1347 and 1433 "in philosophy" all closed as merge to century "in philosophy". James500 (talk) 21:22, 11 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
We should have an article for each of the seventeenth, eighteenth, nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first centuries in philosophy as in each case there are books specifically devoted to philosophy of that century: [1][2][3][4][5]. We should have these five articles regardless of whether we merge the yearly articles into them or not. The century articles don't necessarily have to be timelines. They could just as easily be histories. James500 (talk) 00:30, 12 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Further to what I said at the AfD for 1700 in philosophy, volume 2 of the periodical "Mind" contains sections on news and new books. This will make it possible to construct yearly articles from at least 1876 onwards, provided that the other volumes are the same. The Journal of Speculative Philosophy, the first philosophy periodical in North America, began in 1867: [6]. The news sections of "Mind" also list other early philosophy periodicals (they seem to mostly be in languages other than English). These should be examined to see if they covered current events etc from an earlier date than 1876. James500 (talk) 19:28, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I think it will be possible to have century articles for the tenth century and earlier, but I am not sure how far back this can go. James500 (talk) 00:30, 15 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
James500 Sorry I didn't see your responses earlier. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed to plow into all this. Can we do small steps to reorganize? If so, what are the first most simple steps? Moving years into centuries? --David Tornheim (talk) 04:50, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
