Proposed Move[edit]

Kaoru Genji is too weird. 1) It is not a convention to reverse the original name order for ancient people. 2) and more over "Genji" is not surname. It is a conventional name for his clan, and never combined with given name. He could be Minamoto no [xxxx, not given in the book - Kaoru is a nickname], but never "Kaoru Genji" as far as I understand. So I think this article should be renamed as just "Kaoru". In the text he is always referred as Kaoru or Kaoru no kimi. Not Kaoru Genji. Or is there any convention to call him in this way in English translation, even it sounds strange? --Aphaia 04:22, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

@Aphaia: Hey, I know you left this message at 2007, and it's now 2022 so it's been a long time coming for this reply. Anyways, I'm actually working on this article for university, and I saw the message you left. I think it makes sense to change the article to just Kaoru. Removed incorrect information and polished some sentences in the lead[edit]

I removed a sentence which has incorrect information about Kaoru that mistakes him for his father, Hikaru Genji. It was Hikaru who committed adultery with his step-mom, not Kaoru. Kaoru loves Ukifune. Also, I polished some sentences. Ronaa22 (talk) 01:33, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Added a Characteristics section[edit]

I added a characteristics section for the article. Polished some sentences in the lead. Ronaa22 (talk) 02:38, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Added Development, Literary Context, Analysis sections and references[edit]

For the literary context section, I'm not sure how to redirect to the page of the literary context that's already in the Tale of Genji Wikipedia article... Please look at it thank you. Ronaa22 (talk) 01:40, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

5x expanded by Ronaa22 (talk). Self-nominated at 06:22, 19 May 2022 (UTC).[reply]

  • Article is a 5x expansion, started a week before the nomination. It is missing citations in several places, with several uncited paragraphs. This needs to be corrected. Hook fact is interesting and cited inline, though I will have to AGF on the offline source. Article appears to be written neutrally. QPQ is not needed as this is the user's first DYK nomination. – Muboshgu (talk) 02:04, 13 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
