Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because there is coverage in a major city newspaper (just look at the first cite). I would advise letting other processes handle this. --Stevie is the man! TalkWork 22:23, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Stevietheman: As long as you aren't the creator of the page, you can remove a speedy deletion tag if you feel it is not valid. That said, which of the music notability criteria does this person meet? 331dot (talk) 22:25, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I think other processes should handle it because an article of a major city newspaper is devoted to the subject. Let AfD decide it by community consensus, if necessary. Stevie is the man! TalkWork 22:26, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Having an article in a single city newspaper is not a listed notability criteria. Please answer my question, as this article needs a credible claim of significance as listed in the notability criteria to avoid speedy deletion- or, as I stated, you can remove the tag if you feel it is not valid, since you are not the article creator- but again, you will need to justify it. 331dot (talk) 22:31, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It's enough to prevent a speedy delete in my judgment. If an article is dedicated to the subject, that is a clue that should be followed. I will review against WP:BAND and further explore this if there is an AfD. Stevie is the man! TalkWork 22:34, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Very well, although a couple of largely promotional writings in local news wouldn't seem to meet the criteria by themselves. I'm still not clear on what notability criteria this musician meets. The only claim of significance I see is a couple of local awards which have little notability. 331dot (talk) 22:39, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
{sigh} The issue here is that A7 is not met. You might well be correct on the notability question once everything is hashed out but a speedy prevents that from being hashed out. As I said, there is some coverage and this should be explored. Stevie is the man! TalkWork 22:42, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that you feel A7 is not met but you aren't saying how. The claim of significance doesn't need a source- but there needs to be a claim. What is the claim? I get that the speedy deletion ship has sailed, but pages are speedy deleted by A7 and recreated later all the time. Speedy deletion doesn't mean an issue can't be explored or that a deletion is set in stone. 331dot (talk) 22:47, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
