Classification of sports[edit]

Hi, @Dhruv edits refer to Asian Games sports in that article Jujitsu, kurash etc are individual sports not combined as 'Martial arts'

And only Bridge and Chess have combined page titled as 'Board games' So it is better to keep all the sports separate Diving and Swimming too have seperate pages Also refer to |Official website WikiEdits2003 (talk) 06:15, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @WikiEdits2003. There are 40 sports and 61 disciplines that have been mentioned here. Official website has differentiated between sports and disciplines and the same should be followed here. Also, the link that you have shared mentions the 61 disciplines, not sports. All disciplines have individual wiki pages, but sections on the article should be divided based on sports. Similar classification has been done here and here. Dhruv edits (talk) 07:38, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The list on Asian Games sports is unsourced and it's likely that it is incorrect or outdated. Dhruv edits (talk) 07:42, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Football[edit]

@Dhruv edits Can you edit the Football men's squad ? AIFF earlier has announced new squad but later Ministry added and replaced some players and came with new list of players [1] WikiEdits2003 (talk) 04:41, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

also to other editors @Dolleragarwal , @Abesh2023 WikiEdits2003 (talk) 04:42, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@WikiEdits2003. Even that squad isn't final since it has more than 3 players over the age of 23. The squad is still being updated and changes are being made daily. Let's wait for the final list by AIFF. Dhruv edits (talk) 13:53, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Flagbearers in infobox[edit]

We do not list the sport of the flagbearer(s) in the infobox, as per MOS standards. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 14:05, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

TOC Cluttering[edit]

There is way too much section headings in this article. To improve the readability of the article, I have moved the TOC to horizontal for now, until we can clean up the unnecessary section headings. Any assistance in this would be appreciated! Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 14:09, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stupid changes in wikipedia.[edit]

all the topics opened everywhere and its irritating to scroll all the way to reach bottom . Before only game name was shown if you need you can click the game name for details but now all the game details openly showing its a stupid idea. 5.244.55.118 (talk) 22:56, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, Exactly. Used to be a dropdown. But looks like someone want to do mess up with us. What kind of people are these.
Anyone watching this Talk, Please bring back the dropdown for every event if you can. 103.214.63.240 (talk) 08:21, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dropdown for sports sections removed.[edit]

Someone has removed the dropdown for every sport and made it hard to navigate across the page. This also made page loading a bit slower than it used to be. Anyone who has idea about how to retrieve it, please do it. Much appreciated. 103.214.63.240 (talk) 08:46, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted it but data added after it lost, so I request you and others to please readd the datas. Ku423winz1 (talk) 09:11, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ku423winz1 Again the same happened Kumarpramit (talk) 10:18, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have inspected the reason of error. Don't use the template Template:flagIOC2athlete, it is doing the problem. You used that template some time ago, remove it and the problem will solve. Ku423winz1 (talk) 10:27, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Kumarpramit:, you used this template in https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:MobileDiff/1178858044 and https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:MobileDiff/1178857438 please kindly revert them or remove the template. Ku423winz1 (talk) 10:42, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
But the same has been used in previous edition as well as in other events Kumarpramit (talk) 10:58, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Kumarpramit:, I don't know. The problem happened in your https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:MobileDiff/1178857438 edit because in the previous edit there was no drop-down problem. Ku423winz1 (talk) 11:09, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I changed flagIOC2 to flagIOC but drop down is still not visible Kumarpramit (talk) 12:22, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Kumarpramit: something wrong just happened with your edit https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:MobileDiff/1178857438 I request you to revert it. In its previous edit, the drop down was there and the page was normal. Ku423winz1 (talk) 13:52, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notice[edit]

Editors, don't use the Template:flagioc2athlete because it is causing the drop-down problem. Ku423winz1 (talk) 10:30, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Drop down removed , page has become horrible to view , was upto date before[edit]

Page has become hard to view , page not being updated , posting this from another device , even legitimate edits and updated are being restricted . 103.171.65.195 (talk) 12:08, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Discuss[edit]

@Magentic Manifestations let's discuss why shouldn't we add 100 medal jnfo to this page. Voice your views 122.187.144.98 (talk) 12:51, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Magentic Manifestations I am asking as I don't want to break the Wikipedia 2 revert rule 122.187.144.98 (talk) 13:01, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Suggest that you register as a user first as I do not even know who you are "IP address". Coming to the point, India is on its way to x medals which is already captured as a point in the lead stating as the "best performance ever". The point of mentioning it again is moot.Magentic Manifestations (talk) 14:48, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Magentic Manifestations sorry my bad I did nt read the page clearly bro. Happens with anyone, nice talking with you. 122.187.144.98 (talk) 15:13, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Drop-down Issue[edit]

Hey Anyone Knows how bring back drop-down on this page this without drop-down is very slow JayaOT18 (talk) 16:29, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Magentic Manifestations Kindly Solve this if you know JayaOT18 (talk) 16:31, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Can you pl elaborate what is the issue exactly? Magentic Manifestations (talk) 19:31, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Currently This Page has no dropdown opening from each sport section before while opening it was ok currently while opening page the all sections are already opened I checked the same issue from desktop also We have to scroll to view or edit any section Kindly Solve This @Magentic Manifestations JayaOT18 (talk) 02:06, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ku423winz1 JayaOT18 (talk) 16:31, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Came here from Help talk:Table#Expanded section issue. The sections being expanded by default on mobile seems to have been broken with this edit. [2] Jroberson108 (talk) 18:50, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Jroberson108, In my opinion, I don't think that this brings that issue on page viewing in mobile because similar to this edit is presents in India at the 2018 Asian Games, Nepal at the 2022 Asian Games etc. Fade258 (talk) 03:47, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I tested various things so the sections are collapsed by default in mobile view. There are a bunch of section includes, so when I remove all of them it worked. I attempted to figure out which ones, and removing some and adding other worked, but couldn't isolate which in particular. I thought there might be a limit to how many can be added, but again no success. I removed pretty much everything except the section includes and a few paragraphs, which worked, so it isn't the section includes or a limit on them. All I can guess is there are multiple things causing it or possibly a limit on how much content can be on the entire page? See WP:CHOKING and WP:SUBARTICLE. I'm out of ideas. Jroberson108 (talk) 21:46, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Jroberson108, I appreciate your work on this issue and I don't think that it was a section issue, where I had already mentioned about this on my previous reply above but If we remove entire medal summary from that article then it worked perfectly in mobile view. You can check it here as I tested here many times and If we get back medal summary in that article then it won't worked in mobile view. So, I suggest you to look at once. Fade258 (talk) 04:09, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Did one last test. Deleting either the top half or bottom half fixes the mobile issue, so most likely it is WP:CHOKING and someone needs to split it into WP:SUBARTICLEs or reduce the content so it doesn't choke. Jroberson108 (talk) 22:10, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Jroberson108, If you satisfy with my findings then I will suggest to create a separate article for medal summary. Thanks with best regards! Fade258 (talk) 04:13, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Fade258: Might be easier to put all your replies after mine since mine are consecutive as I narrow down the cause. The edit I first mentioned was simply when it stopped working, not necessarily the cause. That edit probably was when the choking point was reached. Yeah, feel free to reduce the content or split it up into sub-articles. I was only looking for the cause, which your findings also suggest the same cause. To reduce content, you can try removing purely visual elements like icons and flags in tables, etc., things that aren't accessible (screen readers). You might also be able to reduce the details elsewhere, maybe reduce tables some. Otherwise, you'll have to split it up. Jroberson108 (talk) 05:14, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Jroberson108, Yes it is. It is hard/confused to reduce details of which and to remove flags and icons as, for what reason do we removed that flag and icons from the table. Till now I didn't find the actual reason of that page viewing in mobile too. I have looked up previous year articles India at the 2018 Asian Games but there are also the similar type of content compared to this article. On that ocassion that worked perfectly in terms of mobile view. I have one question to you, Did lint errors can affect the wikipedia page on displaying? Fade258 (talk) 09:55, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed some of the more purely decorative images, notably the gold/silver/bronze circles behind the result numbers, and the page appears to work now. CMD (talk) 04:23, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Chipmunkdavis, Thank you for your work and It actually worked now. Fade258 (talk) 04:31, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for implementing the suggested change. The sections collapse by default on mobile now. Jroberson108 (talk) 11:57, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why are all the things open[edit]

Shouldn't we be able to close and open everything instead of having everything open for view where is the drop down menu buttons PorelSaikat (talk) 10:19, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of 28 Indian medalists' articles[edit]

A number of articles about Indian Asian Games medalists have been proposed for deletion (WP:PROD) on the basis of insufficient notability:

I'm pinging major contributors to one or more of these articles plus the editor proposing them for deletion: @Thilsebatti, @Davidindia, @Pharaoh of the Wizards, @Magentic Manifestations, @Lakshays143, @Rowing007

If you agree or disagree with deletion of any of these articles, there are instructions on that article's deletion notice for what to do.

--A. B. (talkcontribsglobal count) 02:24, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Many proposed deletions had objections. 30 articles are now bundled for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ashish (rower)
