LordAmeth, absolutely right. The assumption of Horimono with Yakuza shows the writers total lack of understanding, that is only one machismo aspect of it. Horimono has many other meanings in Japan, for example firefighters often use(d) horimono showing some depiction of water related designs. Even women till this day have horimono done in Japan. There is a further discrepancy that may not be obvious to most. Irezumi is a word used specificaly for prison tattoos and is not interchangable with horimono! Pendodecahedron 12:10, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
