Under his name in his book is the following credential: "Formerly Chief Constable, Criminal Investigation Division, New Scotland Yard" Verne Equinox (talk) 02:49, 13 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There used to be a rank of that name, and the person holding it was indeed the head of the CID; the position was eliminated in the mid-20th century. It's still the highest rank in many of the other police forces in the UK. Clevelander96 (talk) 17:17, 13 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
