Diamonds is available in all the world

Now that Diamonds is available in all the world, can you update the Releases section of the page? Here is the Italian iTunes Link: http://itunes.apple.com/it/album/diamonds-single/id565080760 — Preceding unsigned comment added by PidiContent (talkcontribs) 17:10, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

I created it. Thanks for you contribution on the talk. I hope you like it :) ! — Tomica (talk) 17:14, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

Thank you! I like it! --PidiContent (talk) 17:36, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

"Following the release and success of Rihanna's previous studio album, Loud (2010) (...)"

Why would we need that paragraph that is already included in We Found Love and Talk That Talk? How a cancelled re-released that led to her 2011 album is relevant in an article about the first single of her 2012 album ? I think someone just wants to fill this article with text regardless of its importance and relevance. Decodet (talk) 18:26, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

We don't need to hide, I added that to the article. Is not because it's not related because practically IS related. People that don't know which were Rihanna's past projects can perfectly fit in here and release that she like had released a studio album every year (cause that is BACKGROUND). See "What's My Name?", the same happens there. I can tell you a million other examples of songs by Mariah Carey ("We Belong Together", "Shake It Off", "Shake It Off"; they are all GA's), Jennifer Lopez ("Run the World" (GA), "I'm Into You") etc. — Tomica (talk) 18:35, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
I think you may have misunderstood me. I agree with you that it is important in a Background section but I just don't see why the Loud-Talk That Talk transition is relevant! There should be a Talk Talk That-Diamonds transition instead, how the release of that album and its sucess led into the recording of the new album, etc. Decodet (talk) 20:33, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
Ooo I see. I will update the information right now, but there is only one mention of Loud and is there because it shows the transition to TTT. So the prose can flow better I guess. — Tomica (talk) 22:22, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
It looks better but in my opinion, I would replace that with something like:
Following the commercial and critical success of her sixth studio album Talk That Talk (2010) and its six singles—including "We Found Love", a number one hit that topped the charts in more than 20 countries worldwide including the US— Rihanna began "working on the new sound" for her seventh studio album in March 2012, even though she had not yet begun recording. On September 12, 2012, Def Jam France announced via Twitter that Rihanna would release a new single the upcoming week while her seventh studio album is scheduled to be released in November, 2012. However, the tweet was shortly deleted and replaced with another clarifying that "more information will be made available tomorrow, Thursday, September 13".
What do you think ? Decodet (talk) 23:48, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, Decodet I like it. I will transfer it into the article :). — Tomica (talk) 07:57, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
I previously tried explaining that to him, to deaf ears and his state of WP:IDHT. Till 11:56, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
You were removing the whole paragraph instead of re-writing it or giving proposal like Decodet did. And stop with these WP:PERSONAL ATTACKs cause I swear I will report you! — Tomica (talk) 12:06, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
If I am removing something, it's because I'm being bold as an editor. I do not need your permission to make changes to the article. The fact that I pointed out a gramatical error three times to you, which you ignored the whole time, pretty much sums up your ignorance. Btw, this isn't anything new—can I remind you of this where I repeatedly asked how all that background information is relevant to the article, yet you ignored me and went on to re-add the information because you thought it was relevant. Till 13:38, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
True, and Zach also confirmed to you that the information is relevant so it can comfortably stay. — Tomica (talk) 13:45, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
Asking you and Zac on this matter is inappropriate because there is some bias as both of you wrote the article. Asking a third-party on this matter would be suitable. But seriously, look me in the computer and tell me: How is information from a previous Usher album (such as how its reviews were, and how it performed in the charts) relevant to an album track from a completely different album? Till 13:52, 28 September 2012 (UTC)

Charts

Hi.

Some of the chart positions are not up to date. Here are the positions that need to be correct:

Belgium (Ultratop 50 Flanders): #4 [source: http://www.ultratop.be/nl/showitem.asp?interpret=Rihanna&titel=Diamonds&cat=s] Belgium (Ultratop 50 Wallonia): #4 [source: http://www.ultratop.be/fr/showitem.asp?interpret=Rihanna&titel=Diamonds&cat=s] Denmark (Tracklisten): #2 [source: http://www.danishcharts.com/showitem.asp?interpret=Rihanna&titel=Diamonds&cat=s] Norway (VG-lista): #2 [source: http://www.norwegiancharts.com/showitem.asp?interpret=Rihanna&titel=Diamonds&cat=s] Sweden (sverigetopplistan): #7 [source: http://www.swedishcharts.com/showitem.asp?interpret=Rihanna&titel=Diamonds&cat=s]

Also the one for the Netherlands is not correct. The song made it to #3 on the Dutch Top 40, not on the Mega Single Top 100. The Dutch Top 40 is a much more respected and official chart here in the Netherlands anyway. So it should be:

Netherlands (Dutch Top 40): #3 [source: http://www.top40.nl/rihanna-2/rihanna-diamonds_23162]

I hope you can change it and it would be no problem for me to post some new chart positions every now and then here! :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeroen65 (talkcontribs) 19:40, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Done. Thanks for your contribution. Appreciate that. :) — Tomíca(T2ME) 19:48, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

-Finland #6 [1] Last week it was #13 (highest debut honors)... now the song has been top ten in every official singles chart (aside of the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart, but it might hit top 10 in Billboard's Japan Hot 100 chart)

Number One in Finland, Luxemburg, Denmark and South Africa (airplay).

Finland #1 [5] Denmark #1 [6] --69.89.105.69 (talk) 14:47, 13 November 2012 (UTC)

It is #1 in Switzerland as well.

Right now the peak in The Netherlands is #4 and that is incorrect. That peak is in the singles only chat. The Dutch Top40 (sales, streaming and airplay combined), Diamonds peak is #3. Reversions by Tomica

I'm feeling that User: Tomica is reverting constructive edits made by me.

This edit is unnecessary. [7]

Why revert information about the Digital Songs chart as it is not in the Charts section. I don't see why that needs to be deleted at all. Furthermore, I was accused of not providing a good edit summary while this edit was entitled "Removed some fluff" which I find extremely offensive after spending time adding the information in. I've received numerous warnings from this user about behaving and keeping to restrictions but he seems like he can post whatever he likes to me.

This edit is also annoying me: [8] I changed it before as it was in the wrong tense. We don't need to incorporate this now because the single was revealed to be released on the date it actually did, not rumours of when it might. In addition, the tweet was deleted anyway so is invalid. Iluvrihanna24 (talk) 09:15, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Haha, so what if the tweeet was deleted? I am not citing the tweet as a source, but other third-party reliable sources. And about the digital songs, I think that the chart performance is become too much comprehensive (when it shouldn't be), so that's the reason I deleted the digital songs. And again stop playing the victim here. — Tomíca(T2ME) 09:29, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Chris Brown

Rihanna has now confirmed that the pair are an item so he should not be referred to as her ex boyfriend anymore. [9] Iluvrihanna24 (talk) 16:41, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

Do you realise how many articles say ex-boyfriend? Sources cite him as ex-boyfriend, so it has to stay like that for all current articles. He has always been her ex-boyfriend until today, and we don't know how long it will last for. From now on, he can be referred to as boyfriend for as long as sources say so.  — AARONTALK 16:43, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
Regardless, they were exes when the song came out.  — Statυs (talk, contribs) 17:11, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

Composition

The repeated line "shine bright like a diamond" is the most momorable aspect of the song (love it or hate it), I don't understand why it doesn't get mentioned anywhere in the article. I am curious as to wether that is a sample or Rhianna's voice. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.176.191.201 (talk) 13:22, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

Inclusion of soul into the genres

Closing discussion since participants are blocked socks. Binksternet (talk) 06:12, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
The following discussion has been closed. Please do not modify it.

As in Unapologetic's article it says there is soul in the song, so why do we not include it when the article and source that provides it, characterizes it as a soul/pop song? I strongly agree for the inclusion of soul to it. 81.153.184.105 (talk) 16:06, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

  • Support the inclusion of soul music to the songs genre infobox. 81.153.184.105 (talk) 16:06, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
  • Support that source does explicitly state that Diamonds is a soul/pop song so it should be included Che'Nellefan (talk) 18:41, 30 November 2014 (UTC)

Bit unclear

Is it just me of does "The single debuted at number one on both the United Kingdom's pop and R&B singles charts on October 7, 2012, with over 105,000 copies sold. This gave Rihanna her seventh number-one single in the country.[68][69] After nine weeks on the pop chart, "Diamonds" rose from number ten to three, following Rihanna's performance of the song on The X Factor the previous week." not really make sense?  — ₳aron 11:24, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

Composition and lyrical interpretation section

So, this song was not written by Rihanna. Why is there so much in this section about the lyrics and how they reflect Rihanna? She just did the vocals.137.111.13.200 (talk) 01:22, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 5 December 2015

Footnote number 95: please change 'Sneak Peak' to 'Sneak Peek'. Super small thing, for the grammar freak in all of us! Mattressaur (talk) 04:57, 5 December 2015 (UTC)

  • Not done: Unfortunately, that will have to stay. The reference made the mistake in their title [10]. We have to follow what they say. I agree that it is an annoyance but since the reference is the one that made the mistake there is nothing I can really do. Sorry. --Stabila711 (talk) 05:48, 5 December 2015 (UTC)

"features heavy synthesizers"

This is pretty vague - 'heavy' doesn't really mean much here except maybe "there's a lot of it" or perhaps - inaccurately - "synthesizers making 'heavy' sounds". Something like 'prominently features synthesizer sounds' or 'uses synthesizers throughout, particularly in the opening section' would be a lot more informative. Ideally there could be a reference to a reviewer commenting on the mood created by the opening synthesizer sounds. Colonies Chris (talk) 14:54, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
