Proposal to merge Fuller's caecilian with Chikilidae[edit]

The family Chikilidae is monotypic - with only one genus and only one species Fuller's caecilian Chikila fulleri (formerly Gegeneophys fulleri) in it. In WikiProject Tree of Life, the monotypic species are dealt in the article of the highest level. Chikila fulleri is the sole species in the genus Chikila which in turn is the sole genus of the family Chikilidae. Hence it is proposed to merge "Fuller's caecilian" with family "Chikilidae". Species waiting to be described[edit]

According to Kamei et al., there are half a dozen or more species in the family waiting to be described. Surely it is just a matter of time before their descriptions are published. Why not wait for that to happen, rather than make changes now that will need to be reversed at some point, possibly fairly soon? WolfmanSF (talk) 15:22, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
