Another note I noticed on the edits reverted by Nyttend...most of the information he removed was not only unsourced, but it was also about Brimfield Township. This article is about the Brimfield Census Designated Place within Brimfield Township, but not the township itself. Please keep that in mind when adding additional info to this article as well as making sure it is properly sourced. --JonRidinger (talk) 16:23, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To add to article[edit]

To add to article: the year Brimfield was established. I believe 2016 is its bicentennial year, but there is currently no mention of this in the article. 173.89.236.187 (talk) 19:02, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That's because this is about the census-designated place known as Brimfield, which is just a part of Brimfield Township. The article on the township itself can be found at Brimfield Township, Portage County, Ohio. --JonRidinger (talk) 01:28, 30 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Informal move discussion[edit]

I've been thinking about the whole issue of WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, and it seems this article would be better served at Brimfield (CDP), Ohio with Brimfield, Ohio as a redirect to Brimfield Township, Portage County, Ohio. Along those same lines, the Atwater, Ohio article would be the same, going to Atwater (CDP), Ohio and redirecting Atwater, Ohio, to Atwater Township, Portage County, Ohio (which it previously did...the Atwater CDP debuted in the 2010 census). My reasoning is simply that the CDPs are virtually unknown locally. Yes, they show up on maps, but few people, if any, know what the CDP is or recognize it as a measure of the community. When "Brimfield" or "Atwater" are identified in primary and secondary sources, it most often is referring to the respective township as a whole, not the CDP or the hamlet at the township center. WP:CITIES even discussed the whole issue of mentioning CDPs a little while back. I wanted to get some feedback, though, before a formal move request. --JonRidinger (talk) 05:19, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
