Mainspace[edit]

I personally think it's time we moved this draft into mainspace. _dk (talk) 04:44, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It would be helpful to have the coordinates of where those delimiters are. _dk (talk) 11:14, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I will get them, if you could tell me how exactly would I go about acquiring those? -- Ohc ¡digame! 16:51, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What I do is go on google maps and right click on the desired spot, click "What's here?", then the coordinates show up in a box on the upper left corner. I might do something a bit different for Umbrella Square though, since I don't want to make a new template just for this...I'll go look around and see what my options are. _dk (talk) 20:35, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Preservation[edit]

Great article. Thanks for working on this. Here's another ref for the preservation section.Fears for Hong Kong protest artwork (video)--Nowa (talk) 12:04, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: withdrawn—somehow, Umbrella movement has become an article different from 2014 Hong Kong protests. To me it is a unique substantial change. George Ho (talk) 11:18, 30 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Art of the Umbrella MovementArt of the 2014 Hong Kong protests – I don't know why "Umbrella Movement" is deemed as more meaningful than "2014 Hong Kong protests". If consistency is needed, the proposed title is your man. George Ho (talk) 18:13, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

 • Oppose: George Ho and I seem to be at loggerheads over this. George unilaterally moved it to the proposed title within seconds of it being transferred to mainspace in spite of my express wishes. I posit that the name is meaningful exactly because the overwhelming majority of the art is inspired by umbrellas or bears a logo that says "Umbrella movement". I see no need for consistency here because recognisability, naturalness and conciseness are the key. I would have preferred "Art of the Umbrella movement" (lower case), but upper case "Art of the Umbrella Movement" beats the clutterful "Art of the 2014 Hong Kong protests" by more than a short head. For a more natural and concise google term, we could plump for "Umbrella movement art" instead – I'm fine with that. -- Ohc ¡digame! 04:17, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Talk:2014 Hong Kong protests#Requested move was closed as "no consensus to move". Ohconfucius (talk · contribs)'s apparent advocacy toward Hong Kong democracy has affect his ability to see things clearly. Lately, he did replace my proposed title with something like a test edit or vandalism. I don't know, but he seems relentless and a non-quitter. He hopes to win the consensus's side by renaming "2014 Hong Kong protests" to "Umbrella something". I don't know if he is a protester or not. Ohconfucius, if you are reading this, please don't replace the proposed title with something that looks like a vandalism or a test edit. Use

instead. Art has been used for protests, which would be considered a "revolution" or a "movement". Here's WP:CRITERIA, the criteria list is too large. I'll make it simply explained: a title must be recognizable, natural, precise, concise, and consistent. The current title fails one of criteria. That's it. --George Ho (talk) 05:52, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Also, "Boundless Oceans, Vast Skies" was not inspired by umbrellas when it was released in 1993. The song has been used in these protests. Some certain aspects weren't inspired by umbrellas. --George Ho (talk) 05:57, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
 • Comment Consistency is not a strong reason to move a page. I also dislike lines of reasoning based on ad hominem. I see no difference between either titles (both are fine, really) and think this bickering is senseless and unhelpful. _dk (talk) 07:46, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
 • Weak oppose It was a movement that was characterised by art and expression. At the very least the aspect of the topic related to art should fully express this. Gregkaye 10:00, 30 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

As per WP:EASTEREGG, I've removed the piped link of "people of Hong Kong" from "Umbrella movement". I advise user Ohconfucius just stick to the topic of art in the article. STSC (talk) 21:14, 3 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sources[edit]

Not sure I have a specific request or concern, but just something to keep in mind: there are other works that go by 'Umbrella Man'... the statue in Portland, Oregon comes to mind. Not sure if any disambiguation is needed, or perhaps both should be included on the "Umbrella Man" disambiguation page? --Another Believer (Talk) 16:33, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Consistency in tense[edit]

The article could use a clean-up as far as tense goes. Right now, some parts are written in past tense while others are in present. Some consistency would help the article.
