Issues found during the new pages patrol procedure[edit]

Hey Brianda and Helaine! I'm reaching out as both of you are listed as WikiEd staff on the ENG 21011 Research Writing course. As part of my checks as a new page reviewer, I found that this page has a lot of essay-like language, and don't feel that it's in good enough shape to be an article. I wanted to ask whether this page is supposed to be in mainspace in the first place, since the move was not done by the instructor but one of the students. If it was a mistake, I think we can just revert the move without any further issues. If it wasn't, then this article may have to be considered for deletion by the community. Hi @TechnoSquirrel69, Thanks for the ping. If you come across work in the mainspace that doesn't follow WP policy, feel free treat it as you would any other contribution from an editor. Work is typically moved by the student editors themselves, not the instructor, so I don't believe this was a mistake, but more of an attempt at an article that didn't hit the mark. If I catch work like this in time, then I'll move it back to the sandbox, but if the community feels a deletion is in order, then that's that. @Brianda (Wiki Ed): I actually spoke to @TechnoSquirrel69 about this briefly earlier today. Typically the WP:NPP team would move this back to the user's userspace, but we've been shorthanded and took longer to notice this than we would have liked. Per WP:DRAFTIFY, this page is no longer eligible for drafts pages older than 90 days should not be moved to draft or user space unless it's as a result of an AfD discussion. I appreciate you all starting this conversation about the article. I thought it necessary to inform you, as the instructor for the WikiEdu class, about my intentions for handling this student work and the reason behind choosing this topic. “Intellectual diversity” itself is notable enough for Wikipedia in my estimation (https://www.google.com/search?q=intellectual+diversity+site%3A.edu&oq=intellectual+diversity+site%3A.edu&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOdIBCDU4NDNqMGo3qAIAsAIA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8). I felt it was especially critical to define this term in the context of the Ohio Higher Education Enhancement Act. Even so, I agree that the article was poorly executed. Despite my strong emphasis on avoiding direct communication with the reader—like they would for a “high school” essay—this group disregarded my advice. I am relocating the content to my sandbox as a way to “save” the draft for future classes to work on if it ends up being deleted. I hope that is an acceptable resolution for the community.
