Draft:The Plantain Incident

The Plaintain Incident is an adventure game developed by Lord Dowswell Games. It was made using a game creation system called Dreams by Media Molecule. It is a open world game inspired by Famito Ueda, point and click adventure games and places such as Petra in Jordan.

Gameplay

The game, with a subtitle HOW I LEARNED TO STOP HATING KEVIN AND APPRECIATE THE ALIEN PLANET is an adventure game played from a third person view that takes place on an alien planet. It is a comedic, Science Fiction adventure game, the player takes on the role of protagonist Derek, a sole survivor of a crash landing, the direct result of an unfortunate mistake made by space mechanic Kevin, when he forgot to install the ships engine cooling system the day before launch. Derek's mission is to find a authentic organic replacement for the extinct plantain back on Earth. Through exploration of the surrounding area, Derek uncovers clues about mysterious occurrences on the planet / receives communications from earth, but cannot communicate back to earth.

Sound

The games sound was created by Sammy The Punk who put together a soundscape that was an accompaniment to the visuals of the deserted landscape and ruins.

Development and release

THE PLANTAIN INCIDENT is the first game from Lord Dowswell Games. The game was made across four years, mostly in the evenings. It was created by Michael Dowswell when a co worker told him a game creation system was heading to Playstation 4 in 2020. First published 23 February 2020. Lord Dowswell Games Youtube channel.

This looks really promising, even though it's still a bit rough around the edges. I already like the style of the world, though: Getting quite an Another World/Flashback vibe from this, which is great! I'll keep watching this with interest! schreppybroepke
