Stacy Mitchell is an American activist and author. She is co-director of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance.[1]

Biography[edit]

Mitchell grew up in Portland, Maine. She graduated with a B.A. in history from Macalester College.[2]

She is chair of the American Independent Business Alliance.[3]

In 2016, she co-authored Amazon’s Stranglehold.[4]

On May 29, 2023, an editorial by Mitchell was published in the New York Times.[5]

Awards and honors[edit]

Big-Box Swindle was named a best business book of 2007 by the American Library Association.

In 2014, she was awarded the Beacon Award by Portland Buy Local for her "leadership and innovation in growing Portland's independent and local economy.”[7]
