Rowley Jefferson's Awesome Friendly Adventure is a children's book that serves as a spin-off of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series and a sequel to Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid: Rowley Jefferson's Journal. It is the second book in the Rowley Jefferson series. It was published on August 4, 2020.

Plot[edit]

Roland, a young boy and the main protagonist, longs to go on adventures and fight monsters like his grandfather, against his parents' wishes. One day, Roland discovers that someone named the "White Warlock" came to the village and kidnapped the former's mother. Roland decides to go to the Ice Fortress (a place where the White Warlock resides) and save his mother himself, despite his fear of monsters.

The scenario turns out to be a story created by Rowley, who shows it to his mom and his best friend, Greg. Rowley's mom likes it, but Greg criticizes it in many ways (including Rowley starting the story off with the phrase"Once upon a time"). Greg gives Rowley some tips to make the story better, and they agree to split the profits 50-50 if the story gets published.

Rowley adds a new character (named "Garg the Barbarian") to assist Roland in his journey. Rowley finishes the second chapter of his story and shows it to Greg, who criticizes it even further (though he approves of the Garg character). Rowley writes the third chapter, in which Garg and Roland come across another village whose citizens ask them to do things Roland thinks the villagers should be able to do themselves, leading to even more criticism from Greg.

In chapter four, Roland and Garg leave the village they had been in during the events of chapter three and end up in a village filled with pixies, who give them weapons to use during the rest of their journey.
