Draft:Lumen Accreditation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lumen Accreditation is a program of The Institute for the Transformation of Catholic Education, which operates out of The Catholic University of America and was founded in October 2021.[1] Lumen Accreditation exists to accredit K-12 Catholic schools throughout the United States.[2]

History[edit]

Lumen Accreditation began accrediting institutions in 2023. The Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Saint John Paul the Great Catholic High School (CO), and Cathedral High School (IN) are the first institutions to seek accreditation from Lumen Accreditation.[3][4]

Region and Scope[edit]

Lumen Accreditation is open to any K-12 Catholic school in the United States. The U.S. Department of Education does not regulate accreditation for PK-12 schools.[5] Not all states require or regulate non-public school accreditation.[6]

In its first year of operation, Lumen Accreditation began accrediting schools in Minnesota, Colorado, and Indiana.[7][8]
