Joseph Francis Baca (October 1, 1936 – YEAR)[1] was a justice of the New Mexico Supreme Court from January 1, 1989 to July 31, 2002.
Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, as a youth, Baca "decided he wanted to become a lawyer after hearing a radio speech by the late Sen. Dennis Chávez".[2]

"Baca, 51, is an Albuquerque native and a graduate of the University of New Mexico and George Washington University National Law Center".[3]
"He has been on the District Court bench since 1972 and his current term expires in 1990".[3]
"In 1972, then-Gov. King swore in Baca to his first judicial post. Baca was reelected three times and served as chief district judge before becoming a justice on the Supreme Court in 1989".[2]
