  • Comment: The article falls short of general notability under WP:GNG because none of the article's content or sources as presented in the article discuss the studio itself in detail. Notability isn't inherited from a studio's individual works and there needs to be significant coverage about broader aspects of the studio, such as its coverage on its foundation, staffing, operations, and assessment of its body of work as a whole. Hypergryph (Chinese: 鹰角网络, also known as Shanghai Eagle Horn Network Technology Co., Ltd.) is a video game development company based within Shanghai, China. The company was founded in January 2017, and it is well known for making the critically acclaimed mobile game Arknights, which was released in China in 2019, and globally in 2020 via Yostar. It operates globally via its international division, Gryphline.

History[edit]

Founding and Arknights[edit]

Hypergryph was first founded in early 2017. Less than a few months later in September 2017, Hypergryph released a concept trailer on their first game that would later become known as Arknights. After three beta tests spanning over a year and a half, Arknights was finally released in 2019 to critical acclaim, especially when the game was then released globally by Yostar a year later in 2020. Because of the global success and the fanbase the game had built over the years, it spawned an anime adaptation, starting with Arknights: Prelude to Dawn in 2022, followed by Arknights: Perish in Frost in 2023, both of which aired on TV Tokyo[4], and streamed globally on Crunchyroll[5][6] and on other streaming services elsewhere. The game currently is one of the most popular mobile games globally because of its gameplay, storyline, music, and art design among others.[7][8]

Arknights: Endfield and the founding of Gryphline[edit]

With the success that Arknights has received, Hypergryph announced a new open world RPG Arknights: Endfield[9] for Microsoft Windows and mobile devices in March 2022.[10]

In 2023, during the 2023 Game Awards, which premiered on December 7, Hypergryph released a trailer revealing that the game will also be available for the Sony PlayStation 5.[11] Technical tests commenced a month later on January 12, 2024,[12] and concluded on January 21.[13]

That same year, Hypergryph announced that it had founded its own global division, GRYPH FRONTIER PTE. LTD., simply known as Gryphline,[14][15] which operates within Singapore,[16] Tokyo,[17][18] and Seoul. The new division will globally distribute future titles created by them except Arknights (which is published globally by Yostar).

Despite the anticipation from the anticipation being focused around Arknights: Endfield, Hypergryph's first game to be released under the Gryphline division was Ex Astris, a paid turn-based RPG which was originally announced back in 2021 for iOS and Android platforms.[19][20] This was one of the two games that were announced alongside Arknights: Endfield, the other being POPUCOM, which was announced in 2023 for the PC,[21] as well as the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5.[22][23]

Business and Brands[edit]

Alongside its international division, the company has three game studios and one animation studio. These companies are:

  • Studio Montagne
  • Nous Wave Studio[24][25][26]
  • Mountain Contour Studio[27]
  • Gravity Well, the company's in-house animation studio.[28]
