D-ID's products have been used to produce over 150 million videos through its self-service studio and API, which has over 250,000 developers registered for building applications.[2]

Founded in 2017, D-ID has received funding from various venture capital firms, most recently a $25 million Series B funding round in March 2022. As of the latest update, the company employs approximately 70 people.[3][4]

History[edit]

D-ID was founded in 2017 by CEO Gil Perry, COO Sella Blondheim and CTO Eliran Kuta.[1] The company's first solution was a tool to prevent facial recognition algorithms from identifying individuals in photos posted online. In 2020, the company pivoted to producing generative AI videos of avatars relying on the same core machine learning algorithms. D-ID’s solution was used extensively by clients such as Softbank, NTT, AXA, Deloitte, PWC and genealogy company MyHeritage, wich used it to enable users to animate photographs of their ancestors.[4][5]
