Chilai Howard (Chinese: 鄭智禮) is a Hong Kong interdisciplinary artist and designer, graduated at the Critical Intermedia Laboratory, School of Creative Media, CityU HK [1][2] and HKUST, who experiments the possibility of mediums creating atmosphere that explores humans’ subconscious mind, behaviours and physical interactivity.

His experimental video art, moving images, mixed-media and interactive installations have been exhibited internationally in Tate Modern London [3], ZKM Media Museum Karlsruhe [4], Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei [5], Arad Museum [6]. , National Centre for Contemporary Arts [7]. Saint Petersburg and Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts [8].

He received Award for Young Artist (Media Arts) from the 17th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards by HKADC (2023)[9] [10] and named HKMOL’s Most Outstanding Leader of the Year (2022) [11] for graphic arts and spatial design and multiple awards from Red Dot [12], Muse Award by the American Alliance of Museums[13][14], Marketing Interactive, MARCOM and MUSE Design Awards.

Design Career[edit]

In 2010, Chilai founded a Hong Kong based creative studio NNNNNNN.[15][16][17] specialising graphic arts and spatial design with award-winning projects including HSBC Fraud Fair[16][18], 9GAG X K11 Art Mall Meme Museum[12][19], Beyond the Classroom[20][21] Exhibition with The Education University of Hong Kong, ANiMAL[13] [14] and Giuseppe Castiglione Lang Shining New Media Exhibition[22]with City University of Hong Kong and National Palace Museum. In 2023, he was invited to be the Creative Director for FUSE Omnicom Media Group. He is also an artistic consultant[23] of Videotage, Founding Chair and Chairperson for the CityU School of Creative Creative Alumni Association and guest lecturer for university and seminars.
