Robert "Bobbo" Byrnes (born October 1971) is a singer/songwriter solo musician and producer. He is also a published poet and artist.

Early life[edit]

Byrnes was born on October 5, 1971 in Chelsea Naval Hospital in Massachusetts. His parents split up around the same time he was born and he was adopted by his step father David Byrnes when he was five years old and was raised an only child. He bought his first guitar at age 17 and started writing songs immediately. He graduated from Billerica Memorial High School in 1989 and played his first concert that same year. He also attended Middlesex Community College, New England College and University of Massachusetts in Lowell.

Career[edit]

Byrnes was a member of The Gypsy Mechanics throughout the 1990s, releasing four albums and then two solo albums before the start of the 2000s.

In 2000, Byrnes moved across country and settled in Huntington Beach, CA and started playing with Sonny Mone from Crazy Horse, co-formed the Los Angeles based band Hawkeye, did numerous sessions and then formed The Fallen Stars with his wife Tracy singing and playing bass.

With his band The Fallen Stars, solo and with Riddle & The Stars he has won awards such as "Best Live Acoustic Band", "Best Live Rock Band" in the SoCal Live Music Competition then won "Best Country/Americana Band" and "Best Live Acoustic" in the Orange County Music Awards and "Best Country/Americana" in the LA Music Critic Awards and "Best Live Rock Band" by the OC Weekly. While also being nominated for "Best Male Vocalist" in the LA Music Awards, "Best International" in the Toronto Music Awards and "Best Country/Americana" in the South Australian Music Awards.

Byrnes also wrote a comedy short that was produced for Funny or Die based around the creation of the Jaws theme by John Williams. His poetry has been featured in many literary magazines and his artwork draws comparisons to Jackson Pollock.
