Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović is a Croatian writer, director, and producer based in New York.[1] Her directorial feature debut, MURINA, executive produced by Martin Scorcese, premiered at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival in Directors Fortnight section and won the Caméra d’Or Award presented to the Best First Film. MURINA continued to garner critical acclaim as one of the Best Films of 2022 by The Hollywood Reporter, Associated Press, Vogue, Vulture, The Atlantic, The A.V. Club and The Daily Beast.[2]

MURINA was nominated for three Film Independent Spirit Awards, including Best First Feature, Best Breakthrough Performer and Best Cinematography in 2022.[3] Antoneta received a Breakthrough Director nomination for the 2022 Gotham Awards and the 75th DGA Awards for First-Time Theatrical Feature Film.[4]

Antoneta's short film INTO THE BLUE was awarded at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival and was nominated for a Student Academy Award.[5]

Antoneta is an alumna of the Résidence du Festival of Cinéfondation, Jerusalem Film Lab, the Berlinale Talent Lab, Sarajevo Talent Lab, La Femis Producing Atelier and Marcie Bloom Fellowship. She holds an MFA in Directing from Columbia University in New York, a Masters in Producing from the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb, Croatia and is a member of the Academy of The Motion Picture, Arts and Sciences, Oscars.[6][7]
