Comment: Borderline notable per WP:GNG. At one time, Wikipedia used to include all association footballers who had made appearances in competitive professional matches, but that presumption is no longer made. At the moment, Gaston remains a youth player with just one brief substitute appearance (giving rise to two reports in local/regional press), but otherwise is only the subject of routine or passing mentions. Alfie Gaston (born 11 October 2007) is a Northern Irish footballer who currently plays for semi-professional Northern Ireland Football League side Coleraine F.C.[1] as a midfielder. Aged just 15, he made his NIFL Premiership debut for Coleraine with a 20-minute substitute appearance against champions Larne F.C. on 29 April 2023, a game which Coleraine won 3-0.[1][2]
SuperCupNI[edit]
Gaston was a central member of the County Londonderry team who won the Premier section of the SuperCupNI tournament in July 2023, the first time the county had won the tournament. The team beat Glasgow Rangers, defeated Manchester United in the semi-final,[3] then defeated Mexican side Tigres UANL 1-0 in the final at Ballymena Showgrounds.[4]
Northern Ireland Schoolboys[edit]
Gaston was selected to play for the Northern Ireland Schoolboys at U18 level[5] against an Australian select side[6] and also during a tour of Jersey.[citation needed]
Family[edit]
Gaston comes from a sporting family and his older sister Eva is an U21 Ireland hockey international.[7]
