Draft:APT Foundation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The APT Foundation (Founded 1970 in New Haven, Connecticut) is an American non profit organization (NPO) that supports those with substance use disorders and/or mental illness.[1] They are the first methadone clinic in the United States.[2] The organization innovated the open-access model, an evidence based model for treatment that has proven to be more effective with longer latency.[3] It also contributes to research being done in the field of substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, opioid use disorder (OUD) treatment, cognitive behavior treatment (CBT), and twelve step facilitation (TSF).[4]

Services[edit]

The foundation offers substance use disorder treatment as well as primary care, psychiatric, counseling, and vocational services.[3] It also is the first clinic to offer same-day options for substance abuse treatment.[2] This immediate access uses evidence-based best-practices focused on reducing wait times as a factor in improving systems for addiction treatment.[5]
