Black Nylon[edit]

Just thinking about forming a link up in London. There are two time differences involved here. We can easily manage being 5 hours before you as this would mean doing something from 5pm - 10pm. However Black History Month in the UK is in October . . . .

Pages I would be particularly interested in include:

Any thoughts on how we could link up for this? Leutha (talk) 09:16, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Previous proposal[edit]

This was previously proposed as Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. Blue Rasberry (talk) 01:19, 27 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Other similar meetup on same day[edit]

Another meetup is happening on the same day organized by a new friend, Aliceba.

Aliceba, do you have any ideas on how we can collaborate with our two events? I think they are targeting similar audiences. I wish we could have coordinated a bit more in advance so that we could have planned to have enough trainers at both events. Thanks for taking initiative in what you are doing and stay in touch regarding future events. Blue Rasberry (talk) 01:31, 27 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Response by aliceba: These events are an hour by subway from each other and their organizers are already collaborating. Both events are now part of Wikipedia:Black WikiHistory Month Weekend. Each event is in a heavily populated black area and this makes for more options for people of African descent. Everybody wins. --Aliceba (talk) 01:39, 27 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, we're working together with both events now. At least DGG is going to join at Brooklyn on Saturday, and I and probably a few others will join there on Sunday.--Pharos (talk) 03:43, 27 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Each of us can make the shorter trip. On separate weekends I would go to both. Manhattan being nearer, that's the one for me. Sunday Brooklyn, maybe. Jim.henderson (talk) 18:24, 27 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I encourage new editors to Wikipedia participating in the editathons this month to join this Wikipedia:WikiProject African diaspora by signing their name on the Wikipedia:WikiProject African diaspora#Project participants list so they can find other people who share their interests. Subway update[edit]

The 3 train is not running at all today, and the 2 train is not running between 3 Av-149 St and 96 St. My plan is to take the C train to 135 St, and then walk east to Malcolm X Blvd / Lenox Ave. (There may also be a bus solution, but I'm not very familiar with Manhattan buses.)--Pharos (talk) 13:47, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Schomburg continue to expand learning[edit]

Black Life Matters Editathon allowed me to gain knowledge about building and preserving content related to my passion of fiber, textile and needle arts in the African Diaspora. As the executive director of Harlem Needle Arts, today's session will allow me to share information about the documentation of artisans who are making a significant contribution to the world of painted threads.

I'm grateful to have a new skill which I gained right in my community of Harlem. #BlackLifeMatters #BlackLifeDocumentation.

New month[edit]

Ought a page be made for this month's activities instead of Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC redirecting to last month's" Jim.henderson (talk) 15:34, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
