username issue

I noticed that your username, "Newton Flotman Pairsh Council", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it appears to represent a small parish near Norwich (with or without the spelling error). Hello. Firstly, I must apologise for overlooking your question on my talk page, which I'm now belatedly responding to.

Regarding adding citations, I notice that you've chosen to use one of our two editing tools called Visual Editor. So, the best starting point for you to understand how to use it to add references is to go to Help:Introduction to referencing with VisualEditor/1 and work through both it and the pages beneath. Alternatively, see WP:REFBEGIN on how to use Source Editor, which has a slightly different layout. (I prefer it for adding references, but maybe that's just me and a few thousand other editors!)

I see that you did mess up the citation you added to Newton Flotman, but another editor fixed it. If you scroll down to look at the difference in the edit that corrected it (we call that a DIFF), you'll see that you'd added quotation marks in the news article's title (which aren't wanted), and also added a date of 29th November (where the "th") is also not wanted. That's what gave your citation in the 'references' section a red warning text.

It's great that you want to add content to Wikipedia and to support it with citations to independent sources. I hope you will continue editing, but I should point out one small thing about your username (ignoring the obvious typo). Because we have a one person-one account policy, your request to change your username was not action because it also failed to meet our username policy. Unfortunately, your choice of "Chairman at Flotman Parish Council" could be interpreted as multiple people as elections are held and the account is passed over to that next incumbent. So, something more specific like 'Paul at Flotman Parish Council' would be perfectly OK. Or you could simply choose another, more anonymous name, such as SevenDaysLad, or something equally cryptic.
