Summary

Description
English: These two almost matching white horses adorned the fanlights of numbers 8 and 10 Upper Grand Canal Street in Dublin. We have a few Wiltshire photos that feature these white horses. I still see them around that area today, and I always wonder about them. One of my colleagues, Martin, told me that it used to be said such white horses denoted loyalty to George V. Can any of you shed any light on this topic? Originally a sort of code or just an ornament that looked to best advantage framed in a fanlight? Neither, or a bit of both?

And if that doesn't pique your interest - what was a Golden Goose Shop?
